Description: |
Perennial or sometimes annual aquatic herb with; floating stolons 1–3 mm thick. Leaves subcircular with a deep narrow sinus, c. 12 cm in diameter; petiole 0.5–1 cm long, rarely up to 3 cm. Flowers 10–20 on pedicels 3–6 cm long. Calyx 3–4 mm long, spreading at flowering time. Corolla golden yellow, 10–15 mm long with tube 3–3.5 mm long and lobes 6–7 mm long. Capsule ovoid, c. 5.7 mm wide, slightly longer than the calyx, up to 12 seeded. |

Notes: | This species is very similar to N. thunbergiana. It can be distinguished by the golden yellow flowers with a shorter tube but longer corolla lobes, more freely produced stolons and echinulate to tuberculate seeds. |
