Description: |
Small and slender annual grass. Culms 10–20 cm high, erect; nodes dark and hairless. Ligule rimlike, c. 1 mm. long, shortly ciliate. Leaves linear, 2–5 cm long, flat, hairless on both surfaces; margins smooth. Inflorescence composed of 1–2 racemes, 2–4 cm long, both on short peduncles. Rhachis asymmetrically winged, undulating. Spikelets oblong-lanceolate, 1.9–2.1 mm long. Inferior glume absent. Superior glume c. 1/2–2/3 of the spikelet, oblong-triangular, stiff, appressed white hairy, overtopping the superior glume. Inferior lemma as long as the spikelet, oblong-lanceolate with recurved margins, 5-nerved, appressed hairy. Superior lemma somewhat shorter than the spikelet, oblong-lanceolate, sharply keeled, pale yellow or sometimes purplish tinged. |
