View from the southern end of the bridge looking north. Bart's car is faintly visible just past the bridge on the right. The peak on the right is Mt Masendwa which is 4.5 kms away and 1560 m high. The peak on the left is Mt Jena, 6.5 kms away and 1760 m high.

Most of the plants found were either in the river bed on the left or in the dry open area on the other side of the road nr the car. Further collecting was done 100 - 200 m on the far side of the river on the left.

Description

One of the roads leading to the Osborne Dam Recreational Park, crosses the Odzani River in an area of hot and dry open woodland. The vegetation is increasingly affected by human impact and most larger trees have been cut but many typical constituents of this hot and dry environment can still be found. Interesting records include Elephantorrhiza elephantina (Mimosaceae) and Maerua juncea subsp. crustata (Capparaceae). On the rocks and sandbanks in the river, which are submerged only a few months of the year, plants such as Salix mucronata (Salicaceae) grow.
