Description of the genus

Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves (in ours) in a single rosette at apex of stem, paripinnate, ± sensitive (i.e. the leaflets fold downwards when touched briskly). Leaflets opposite or subopposite. Flowers orange, yellow, white or pinkish in pseudumbels with bracts forming an involucre.

Worldwide: 50 species in the tropics

Zambia: 8 taxa.
