Rhizomatous shrubs with straight stems; tendrils absent. Latex present, abundant in the rootstocks. Inflorescence cymes terminal and axillary. Calyx lobes ± free to base; corolla hypocrateriform; tube glabrous without, pilose within around the stamens and near the mouth; lobes contorted, overlapping to the left, ± equalling tube, glabrous or ciliate. Ovary hairy; ovules few, in 2 series in each loculus; style, clavuncle and stigma very short. Fruit a few-seeded glabrous berry without sclerified pericarp. Worldwide: 1 Species in Africa. Zambia: 1 taxon. |
