Klainedoxa Pierre ex Engl.

Description of the genus

Large trees with dark brown bark; young trees armed with spines. Leaves coriaceous with prominent quaternary venation. Stipules large, (4-12 cm long). Inflorescence a terminal panicle. Flowers small (< 8 mm). Ovary 5-locular. Fruit a weakly or markedly 5-lobed drupe with 5 pyrenes. Seeds 5.

Worldwide: 3 species occurring in tropical Africa
