Nemum Desv.

Description of the genus

Annual or perennial herb. Stems scapose. Leaves often distichous. Bracts inconspicuous. Inflorescence a solitary spikelet, or one sessile with several stalked spikelets. Spikelets dark brown with many spirally arranged glumes. Nutlets smooth.

Worldwide: 4 species in tropical Africa, one extending to the West Indies.
