Description: |
Slender tufted annual 3-40 cm tall. Inflorescence simple or compound, lax with one sessile spikelet and 1-10 stalked spikelets and additional groups of sessile and stalked spikelets, up to 40 spikelets in all, the whole up to 5 cm long. Stems and leaves densely short hairy (cf. subsp. pusilla). |

Notes: | Earlier determinations as B. densa by Kew, were re-assigned to B. pusilla by Clare Archer in 2001. Other collections of Robinson at Kew, were named B. congolensis, as have recent collections at Mutinondo Wilderness Area by Kenneth Bauters and Lari Merrett. This name is accepted by WCSP (World Checklist of Selected Plant Families) and FTEA. |
