Description:
Plants (20)40-70 cm tall; corms 25-30 mm in diameter, depressed-globose, usually dark-red and persisting for several years, tunics coriaceous to membranous and fragmenting irregularly; foliage leaves 3-6, lower 2-4 basal and laminate, starting to emerge around flowering time, largest up to 35 cm long and 4-6 mm wide, linear to narrowly lanceolate, margins and midribs moderately thickened, usually lightly pubescent; flowering stems usually 1-2 branched; spike 6-9 flowered, inclined; bracts 10-15(20) mm long, inner usually slightly longer than outer; flowers purple to pinkish, without markings or 1 or all lower tepals with small yellow mark in distal half; perianth tube c. 10 mm long; tepals unequal with upper larger than lower, 30-35 x 13-15 mm at widest, lanceolate; capsules 15-22 mm long, ellipsoid-obovoid.
