Description:
Shrub up to 1.5 m high. Leaves linear-lanceolate to oblanceolate, to ± 15 × 5 cm., base tapering to a petiole to 1 cm. long, apex obtuse, margin entire, midrib acutely prominent beneath, lamina glabrous. Inflorescence in pseudumbels of 3–5 cymes on glabrous peduncles to 4 cm long; cymes 2-forked, with branches glabrous or rarely the uppermost shortly pubescent, 5–15 mm long; bracts subquadrate, ± 3 × 3 mm, dentate, glabrous or the margin sometimes sparsely and minutely pilose. Cyathia ± 2 × 4 mm, with shallowly cup-shaped involucres glabrous or shortly puberulous at the base; glandular rim ± 0.8 mm wide, yellow, darkening with age; lobes rounded, ± 1.5 × 1.5 mm, glabrous. Male flowers: bracteoles fan-shaped, laciniate, ± plumose; stamens 2.8 mm long. Female flower: ovary and styles not seen. Capsule subsessile on a pubescent pedicel to 1 mm long, ± 4.3 × 4.5 mm, minutely pubescent, reddish. Seeds ovoid, obtusely 4-angled, 2.5 × 2 mm, pale brownish grey, minutely tuberculate; caruncle sessile 0.3 mm in diameter, yellow.

Zambia, Mpulungu
Notes: Currently only known from areas by Lake Tanganyika in Zambia but possibly also occurring along the Lake within DRC and Tanzania.
Derivation of specific name: glabratum: smooth and/or hairless.
Habitat: Amongst rocks on the shoreline and wooded slopes of islands
