Low sparsely branched erect shrub to c. 1 m high or scandent shrub producing arching stems to c. 6 m by means of persistent hook-like retrorse petiole bases; leaves opposite, subopposite or 3-whorled, 2.5-16 x 1.5-10.8 cm, broadly elliptic or suborbicular to oblong-obovate, margins entire to repand-dentate or undulate, glabrous above and sparsely pubescent on margins and veins beneath, petiole 0.2-5.5 cm; inflorescence terminal and paniculate, cymes few to many flowered, racemosely to subumbellately arranged on slender peduncles 3-6 cm long on inflorescence and 1-3 cm long on cymes; calyx (4)5-7 mm long and 2-3 mm in diameter, narrowly cylindrical-funnel shaped, appressed pubescent or hairy; lobes 1-2 mm long, triangular; corolla white, sweet scented; tube 15-19 mm long, sparsely hairy to the base, lobes 2.5-4.5 x 2.5 mm, suborbicular to broadly ovate; anther and stigma greenish; style exserted 8 mm; fruit c. 1.2 x 0.9 cm, oblong-ellipsoid. |
