Description:
Woody herb or shrub, 1.3–3 m tall. Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets broadly elliptic, 5–10 long and 2.4–4.8 cm wide, pointed at the apex, almost hairless to sparsely pubescent beneath; petiole usually a little shorter than leaflets; stipules absent. Racemes lax, many-flowered; bracts filiform, 2–5 mm long. Calyx 1.4–1.8 cm long, hairless to thinly puberulous; lobes narrowly triangular. Standard ovate, yellow, finely veined purplish outside; wings a little over half to two-thirds as long as keel; keel 2.5–3.2 cm long, strongly rounded, more or less straight along upper margin, with a long upwardly directed beak. Pods with 1.5–1.8 cm long stipe, broadly ellipsoid-clavate, 5.7-6.7 cm long, much inflated, hairless.

Notes: Similar to the more common and widespread Crotalaria laburnifolia. Mainly differing in more or less elliptic and acuminate leaflets; petiole not constricted at the base and generally shorter than the terminal leaflet, and shorter, broadly ellipsoid-clavate pods.

Habitat: Along edges of forest and streams or in disturbed or secondary vegetation.
