Description: |
Small to medium-sized evergreen tree up to 20 m tall with a fluted trunk and smooth, grey bark. Leaves imparipinnate, up to 23 cm long, densely stellate-pubescent; leaflets, opposite or alternate, 3–4-jugate, very variable, more or less elliptic, up to 15 cm long but usually much smaller, base markedly asymmetric, stellate puberulous and with minute red and black glands beneath; petiolules up to 1 cm long. Flowers in contracted branched axilllary inflorescences, creamy-white, becoming darker yellow with age, fragrant; peduncles up to 10 cm long; pedicels 1–2·5 mm long. Calyx cup-shaped, 2 mm long, with minute teeth, stellate-pubescent. Petals 4–5 mm long, densely puberulous outside. Fruit small, 2–3-locular, up to 1·5 cm long, encrusted with stellate scales. |
