Description: |
Sparsely branched shrub or small tree to 5 m. tall; young twigs stout, golden-brown hairy, older twigs with roughly triangular leaf-scars. Leaves imparipinnate, 15–60 cm long, with 3–5 pairs of leaflets, pubescent above and beneath, most densely so on the nerves beneath, rarely almost hairless; petiole 8–15 cm long; leaflets oblong to narrowly ovate, 4–13 cm long, more or less opposite; margins entire shallowly wavy, asymmetric at the base; petiolules up to 5 mm long. Inflorescences axillary, borne towards the end of the young shoots, 12–35 cm long, spike-like with distant clusters of flowers along the main axis, pubescent. Flowers not opening widely, very small, greenish. Fruit developing from 1–4 of the carpels in each flower and consisting of red ovoid drupaceous mericarps c. 10 × 6 mm, pointed at the apex. |
