Small tree, evergreen, 3.5‒13 m. tall; bark deeply fissured, flaking; young branches densely rusty pubescent; flowers solitary or in pairs, axillary, on both young and old branches; sepals densely brown-sericeous on both surfaces; petals cream, the outer whorl valvate, the inner imbricate in bud; fruiting carpels numerous, glabrous or sparsely pubescent, yellow becoming blackish-purple, edible. |
