Description:
|
Shrub or small tree, usually without leaves when in flower. Branches greyish, thickened at the nodes. Leaves opposite, ovate-lanceolate, 4.5-16 cm long, discolorous, green above, yellow-green beneath, veining impressed above and with prominent reticulation beneath; margin entire; petiole up to 2.5 cm long, strigose. Flowers in compact terminal heads, 5-merous. Receptacle cylindric-campanulate, green to purple, set with ascending bristles; petals obovate, up to 2.5 cm long, purple. |
