Description: |
Perennial herb up to 1 m high. Stems and branches 4-angled, rough with short, appressed bristles. Leaves ovate,oblong-ovate or lanceolate, 5.5-12.5 cm long; fairly thinly textures, light green above, paler beneath, sparsely covered in short bristles on both surfaces, 3-7-veined; veins impressed above, prominent beneath; margin with fine bristly teeth; petiole 1-4 cm long. Flowers in lax, branched terminal heads; receptacle c. 4 × 2.5 mm, cylindric, sparsely covered in short rough bristles. Sepals lanceolate, 3 mm long; intersepalar segments short, bristly at the top. Petals 7-8 mm long, pink. Anthers in 2 forms, c 4 mm long. Fruiting receptacle ovoid, 6-8 mm long, with distinctly raised veins. Capsule subspherical, shorter than the receptacle. |
