Description: |
Evergreen shrub, up to 1·8 m. high with a woody rootstock. Leaves 3-10 x 1·2-3·5 cm., oblong-oblanceolate or oblong, blunt or sometimes acuminate at the apex, margin entire, cuneate at the base; petiole 3-5 mm. long. Flowers fragrant, 3·5-5 cm. in diameter, solitary. Receptacle muriculate. Calyx-segments 6 x 4 mm., ovate, acute, biglandular at the apex. Pseudocorolla cup-shaped, c. 35-nerved, pink along the ribs, concolorous inside, sometimes deeper magenta on the ridges, the other verticils white. Fruit 2·5-3 cm. in diameter, depressed-globose, verrucose. |
