Description: |
Shrub 4–8 m. high with a short thick twisted stem. Leaves spirally arranged, congested at the ends of the branchlets; lamina 9–22 x 6·5–14 cm., obovate, apex rounded or retuse, base cuneate and ± decurrent into the petiole, golden-yellow-tomentellous; lateral nerves 10–14 pairs, prominent. Inflorescences of axillary spikes 10–12 cm. long. Lower receptacle tomentellous; upper receptacle densely pubescent. Stamens 3 mm. long; anthers 0·5 mm. long. Disk densely pilose. Fruits 3–3·5 x 1·8 cm., elliptic, tomentellous, apex rounded or emarginate, base cuneate, stipe 2·5–3 mm. long. From FZ, Vol 4, Part 0, page 100, (1978) Author: A. W. Exell |
