Robust perennial; 80-165 cm high, growing from a horizontal rhizome; roots wiry with tubers at tips; leaves in 2 rows, 3-10 per plant, narrowly lanceolate, 18-100 x 0.5-6 cm; peduncle with a few bract like leaves below the inflorescence, flat and winged; inflorescence usually unbranched, subglobose, dense; pedicels 1-3 per node; perianth white, tepals 9-11 mm, 5-9 veined; capsules obovoid to shallowly deltoid, 6-8 mm long; seeds irregular folded, 1-2 mm across. |
