Description: |
Erect perennial herb, up to 50 cm high, growing from an ovoid-deltoid or obconical tuber, 80-200 mm long. Stems 1-3, erect, 20-50 cm long, reddish-green. Leaves opposite, erect, sessile or petiolate, linear-oblong to linear-ovate, 5.5-12 cm long, hairless to sparsely puberulous above, puberulous to somewhat roughish below; margin often wavy; petiole 0-7 mm long. Leaves often develop after flowering. Flowers in axillary and terminal, heads. Corolla lobes reflexed, narrowly ovate-triangular, 7-27 mm long, outside greenish, brownish-pink to dark brown, inside pink, mauve, purple or bluish. Corona lobes purple to white. filiform, simple, 6-20 mm long, hairless. Fruit a single follicle, rarely paired, erect, narrowly ovoid, 5-11 cm long, hairless or hairy. |
