Description:	See var. subacaulis for general description. This variety differs in having much smaller and inconspicuous leaves in the basal rosette; a far greater number of leaves along the branches; the leaves along the branches are narrower, linear, thick and almost fleshy. This variety is more usually several stemmed and occurs in shallow soil on seepage rocks and among grasses.

Notes:	This species is unusual in Lamiaceae in not having strictly opposite leaves.
