Description:
Erect perennial herb, 0.6-3 m tall with stems arising from a woody rootstock. Stems erect, rounded-quadrangular, becoming leafless as flowers mature. Leaves ovate, 25-70 mm long, pubescent and with red sessile glands; margin serrate; petiole 2-7 mm long. Inflorescence lax forming a much-branched open panicle; flowers solitary in the axils of bracts. Corolla blue, 13-16 mm long, pubescent with reddish sessile glands.

Habitat: In open woodland on sandy soils or in rocky areas.
