Description: |
Pyrophytic dwarf suffrutex up to 25 cm tall, growing from a woody rootstock. Stems 1–several, erect, herbaceous, simple or few-branched. Leaves opposite or sometimes 3-whorled, lanceolate, elliptic, oblong or oblong-obovate, 1.5–9 cm long, sometimes somewhat fleshy, shortly pubescent, particularly on the veins and margins, sometimes almost hairless; margin entire; petiole up to 3 mm long. Inflorescences axillary in the crowded uppermost leaves, 3–12-flowered, sometimes with 2 solitary axillary flowers below the capitate inflorescence. Corolla white or pale cream-coloured, densely and softly white hairy outside; tube (6)–11 cm long; anthers and style apex purple; stamens and style exserted c. 4 cm. |
