Description:
Parasitic leafless twiner with stems up to 1·5 mm in diameter. Inflorescences in few-flowered clusters. Flowers 4–6 mm long and wide, pale cream, somewhat leathery when dried; pedicels shorter than the flowers. Calyx cup-shaped nearly enclosing the corolla; lobes ovate-circular, obtuse, overlapping at the base. Corolla bell-shaped to cylindric; lobes ovate or circular, obtuse, shorter than the tube. Stamens shorter than the corolla lobes with short and thick filaments; styles shorter than the ovary and rather thick, often reflexed; stigmas mostly flattened and convolute. Capsule depressed-globose, at length splitting around the base.

Notes: Parasitic on various hosts, often on Acanthaceae.
Derivation of specific name: kilimajari: of Mt Kilimajaro.
Habitat: On floors and edges of moist evergreen forest.
Altitude range: Above 1000 m

Worldwide distribution: Throughout eastern Africa, from Ethiopia to South Africa.
