Description: |
Much-branched prostrate annual herb with branches up to 35 cm long, appressed hairy along the upper surface. Leaves opposite, up to 14 mm long, rounded and entire or obscurely toothed at the apex, very obliquely rounded at the base, hairless or rarely with a few scattered hairs around the margin; petiole to 0.5 mm long; stipules linear, up to 0.4 mm long, sometimes 2–3-toothed at the broader base. Flowers terminal and pseudoaxillary on short leafy shoots, solitary on peduncles up to 1 mm long, c. 1.25 mm wide, with cup-shaped involucres; glands 4, up to 1 mm wide but usually much less, reddish with obvious white or pinkish lobed appendages up to 0.6 mm long and 1.5 mm wide. Capsule exserted on a reflexed pedicel up to 3 mm long, acutely 3-lobed with truncate base, 1.6 mm in diameter, usually hairless, occasionally with a few long spreading hairs. |
