Description:
Climbing perennial herb with stinging hairs. Stems up to 3 m long, growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves ovate, up to c. 13 cm long, cordate at the base but never lobed, more or less hairy above and on the midrib and veins below; margin dentate. Inflorescences terminal or leaf-opposed, up to 14 cm long. Flowers unisexual on the same inflorescence. Fruit 3-lobed, 5 × 9 mm, smooth, yellow-green with rough hairs on the ribs of the lobes.
