Description:
Woody climber, sometimes creeper. Stems up to 4 m long, densely rusty velvety when young, becoming hairless when older. Leaves (sub-)opposite or rarely in whorls of 3, broadly lanceolate to lanceolate-oblong, up to 13 cm long, densely rusty velvety when young, becoming hairless when older, dark green above, greyish-green beneath; petiole 0.5-2 cm long, channeled above, usually hairless. Stipules up to 15 × 8 mm, broadly lanceolate to obovate. Flowers in axillary or terminal heads, 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, white, cream to orange-yellow; petals contracted and clawed at the base, with deeply fimbriate margins. Fruits distinctly winged, circular to broadly ovate, 4-5 cm in diameter, hairless.
