Description: |
Scrambling shrub or climber, armed with sharp, paired hooked thorns. Branches slightly zigzag, greyish-velvety when young. Leaves elliptic to ovate, up to 5 × 3 cm, leathery, blunt and minutely mucronate at the apex, greyish velvety when young, mostly hairless when older; margin often wavy. Flowers solitary, axillary. Inner sepals petaloid greenish-white, 3-4 times longer than outer sepals. Petals similar to inner sepals. Stamens 40-50, up to 2.8 mm long. Fruit ellipsoid, c. 4 × 2.5 cm, strongly 6-8-ridged, deep-pink when ripe. |
