Description: |
Solitary or clumped plants up to 50 cm tall growing from a small rhizome with many spongy roots often swollen near the tips; leaves 3-7, linear-lanceolate or occasionally circular, sheathing at the base, erect, 4-66 x 1.4-6.5 cm., hairless except for the margins; peduncle terete, smooth, shorter than leaves; inflorescence erect, unbranched or occasionally with 1-2(5) branches at base; pedicels articulated above middle, 2-5 mm long, lower ones 2-4 per node; perianth urceolate (urn or pitcher-shaped), brownish to brownish-green; tepals 8-9 x 1.5-3 mm, 3-5(7) veined, stamens shorter than perianth; capsule obovoid, 3-angled, 6-11 mm long; seeds disk-shaped, c.4.5 mm across. |
