Description: |
Densely tufted perennial sedge, bearing blackened leaf-bases below. Stems 10-50 cm. Young leaf sheaths pale brown to wine red. Inflorescence a compact head, composed of 1-5 obtuse spikelets; bracts shorter than the spikelet. Spikelets 6-10 mm, obtuse. Glumes dark brownish-black, pubescent; apex obtuse or emarginate with a frayed margin.Nutlet c. 1.4 mm, transversely wrinkled. |
