Description:
Tufted annual. Longest involucral bract spreading or reflexed. Inflorescence a dense head of 3─12 ovoid ± confluent spikelets; spikelet bracts red-brown with green or yellow apex. Style with 3 branches. Nutlet triangular in cross-section.

Derivation of specific name: rehmannii: named for Anton Rehmann, 1840-1917, Polish botanist and collector
Habitat: Seasonally wet grassland, seeps, shallow soil over rock pavements
Altitude range: 850 - 1750 m

Worldwide distribution: Angola, Namibia, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Madagascar.
