Description: |
Tufted annual grass with culms up to 75 cm high. Leaves 7–20 cm long, soft, tapering to a fine hair-like apex. Racemes up to 10 cm long, ascending, mainly grouped in whorls of 2–5, either clustered subdigitately towards the top of the culm or arranged along a central axis up to 15 cm long. Spikelets 5.5–13 mm long; inferior glume linear-oblong in profile, 1.2–2.9 mm long, superior glume lanceolate in profile, 1.5–3 mm long, with an apical awn 1/3–2/3 as long as the body; lemmas narrowly ovate in profile, 2.1–2.8 mm long, mid-nerve ending into a stout awn-like point up to 0.9 mm long. |
