Description of the genus

Dioecious trees and shrubs with a stellate indumentum. Leaves simple, alternate, entire, gland-dotted. Inflorescence a terminal panicle. Male flowers: calyx closed in bud; petals 0; stamens 15-40; anthers 2-thecous. Female flowers: calyx 5-6-lobed; petals 0; ovary 3-locular; styles 3. Fruit 3-lobed.

Worldwide: 3 species in tropical Africa
