Bracts persistent. Bracteoles persistent, opposite. Calyx 5-lobed, the upper lobes partly fused. Pod consists of 1-6 indehiscent articles. Derivation of name: from Greek: ormos meaning a necklace and carpos a fruit, referring to the constrictions between the seeds. Worldwide: 20 species in tropical and warm Old World Zambia: 3 taxa. |
