Bulbous herbs with solid scapes. Inflorescence of 1(-2) flowers. Involucral bracts 2. Flowers symmetric, white or greenish. Tepals connate into a slender tube; segments spreading. Filaments united into a basal cup, forming a false corona.
Fruit a capsule with glossy black seeds.
Worldwide: 16 species in the Canary Is, Mediterranean and W and southern Africa
