COURTOISIA Nees
Annuals with a strong odour of fenugreek when dried. Culms triangular. Inflorescence open, with long leafy involucral bracts. Spikelets 1-8-flowered, falling off entire when mature. Glumes distichous, winged on the keel. Perianth 0. Stamens 3. Stigmas 3. Fruit a nutlet, usually dorsally flattened. Worldwide: 2 species occurring in Africa (from Ethiopia south to South Africa), Madagascar and Indo-China Zambia: 2 taxa. |
