Slender woody twiners arising from a large tuberous rootstock; latex white. Leaves opposite. Inflorescences extra-axillary, umbelliform. Corolla rotate, fused portion extending as a flat limb beyond the corona; lobes broadly ovate or triangular. Corolline corona absent. Gynostegial corona in several series; tubular element shorter than the gynostegium; inner elements strongly lobed or divided. Anther appendages ± obsolete. Pollinarium with two pollinia attached directly to the pale brown corpusculum; corpusculum broad, both in relation to its length and in relation to the pollinia; pollinia consisting of single pollen grains enclosed by a wall. Follicles single by abortion. Worldwide: 3 species, localized in western Oman, eastern Ethiopia or Tanzania and Zambia. Zambia: 1 taxon. |
