Description of the genus

Annual. Inflorescence composed of digitate racemes bearing paired spikelets. Spikelets dorsally flattened, narrowly elliptic, awnless. Lower glume as long as the spikelet, 3(-5)-nerved with an obtuse hyaline apex. Upper glume shorter, 3-nerved. Upper lemma cartilaginous, the flat thin margins covering most of the palea.

Worldwide: 1 species in Angola, Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe
