Slender annual herbs. Cystoliths dot-like. Leaves alternate, petiolate, serrate, dentate or entire; stipules lateral, free. Inflorescences of dense sessile clusters, axillary or on reduced branches, always without a common involucre, but often with ciliate or bristle-bearing bracts. Flowers few together, sessile; perianth boat-shaped. Fruit achene with a narrow, slightly unilateral wing. Worldwide: 2-3 species in southern Africa. Zambia: 1 taxon. |
