Evergreen trees or shrubs, usually completely glabrous. Leaves sessile to petiolate; stipules entire. Inflorescences paniculate or raceme-like or less often reduced to 1–2 flowers, terminal or axillary at the base of the new growth; bracts deciduous or persistent; pedicels usually slender, articulated at or above the base. Sepals 5, imbricate, persistent and turning red and coriaceous in fruit. Petals 5, yellow, cream or white, not clawed. Fruit drupelets usually black at maturity, 1–5. Seeds without endosperm. Zambia: 1 taxon. |
