Description of the genus

Inflorescence a slender spiciform panicle, sometimes reduced to a unilateral raceme with paired spikelets. Spikelets dorsally compressed. Inferior glume 1/2 length of spikelet, hyaline, truncate, the superior equalling spikelet and gibbous. Superior lemma cartilaginous with flat margins.

Worldwide: One species from Zambia and D.R. Congo.
