Eccoptocarpha Launert

Description of the genus

Inflorescence of racemes along a central axis, the spikelets single and adaxial. Spikelets obovate. Inferior glume 3/4 length of spikelet. Superior glume and inferior lemma as long as spikelet, with prominent cross-nerves and resembling woven fabric. Superior lemma shorter than spikelet, crustaceous, obtuse, supported on an S-shaped internode which eventually straightens to extrude the floret.

Worldwide: One species in Tanzania and Zambia.
