Description of the genus

Annual herbs. Leaves alternate. Capitula solitary or in few-headed lax cymes; heads small, radiate, with few florets. Phyllaries connate. Ray florets female; filaments with dilated collar. Fruit achenes 5-ribbed or –winged, glabrous; pappus absent.

Worldwide: 2 species in tropical Africa.
