Phyllaries in many rows, rounded or obtuse, sometimes purplish. Capitula homogamous, discoid; florets bisexual. Receptacular scales 0. Corolla tubular below, abruptly widening to a linear limb exserted beyond the pappus and involucre. Achenes densely hispid. Pappus of barbellate or ± plumose setae. Worldwide: 26 species in tropical Africa Zambia: 13 taxa. |
