Description of the genus

Annual or biennial herbs. Leaves alternate. Capitula at ends of branches, irregularly cymose, heterogamous; outer florets female; disk sterile. Receptacle naked. Phyllaries 1-2-seriate. Achenes slender. Pappus of 1(-2) long setae broadening above into a fimbriate or plumose apex.

Worldwide: 1 species in southern Africa
