Annual or perennial herbs, erect. Stems simple. Leaves opposite, entire. Inflorescence racemose. Flowers opposite, bracteate, pedicellate. Calyx 5-lobed, campanulate, lobes subequal, shorter than tube. Corolla campanulate, oblique, narrow at base, dilated above, 5-lobed; lobes subequal, rounded. Fruit a capsule ovoid, equalling to somewhat longer than calyx. Seeds numerous, narrowly cylindric usually tapering. Worldwide: One species in tropical Africa. Zambia: 1 taxon. |
