Corolla tube short, cylindric or funnel-shaped, closed with 5 scales at the throat; lobes 5. Ovary of 4 separate lobes. Style gynobasic. Fruit of 4 nutlets; nutlets depressed, glochidiate. Worldwide: c. 75 species in temperate and warm regions, mainly Old World Zambia: 3 taxa. |
