Description of the genus

Scandent shrubs or rarely a small tree. Leaves opposite, bearing scales. Inflorescences of terminal and axillary panicles. Flowers small, 4-merous. Petals 4, inserted near the margin of the disk. Stamens 4, in one row. Ovules 2. Fruit 4-winged.Similar to Combretum; differing in the two italicised characters.

Worldwide: 2 species; one in Zambia and Zimbabwe, the other in Madagascar

Zambia: 2 taxa.
