Terrestrial or lithophytic ferns. Rhizome short, creeping to suberect, irregularly laterally branched, often stoloniferous. Fronds tufted, monomorphic or hemidimorphic, pinnate to 3-pinnatifid. Pinnules without a stalk or short-stalked, herbaceous to coriaceous. Veins free or anastomosing. Sporangia borne at or near vein appices either on branched basal pinnae (Anemia) or on unmodified pinnae (Mohria), without indusium. Comment: The 2 genera, Anemia and Mohria are sometimes placed in the family of the Schizaceae. Worldwide: 2 genera, 100+ species worldwide Zambia: 2 genera and 6 taxa. |
